A Four-Band Night That Lit Up House of Blues

The night opened at House of Blues San Diego with a calm that didn’t last long. With four bands — Belmont, Avoid, Unwell, and Super Sometimes — lined up back-to-back, they set the House of Blues on fire.

Super Sometimes, a local pop-punk band, kicked off the night with a bright, feel-good energy. Catchy hooks, easy confidence on stage, and a presence that put the crowd in a good mood right away. With some of their family in the audience, adding an extra layer of warmth to the room. It was a solid opening that set the tone for the rest of the show.

Unwell followed with a burst of energy. They’re coming off the release of Allegoria, their new album that dropped just days before the show, and you could feel how much it means to them. Themes of reflection, rebuilding, and sobriety ran through their performance. the crowd connected with that sincerity.

Then Avoid came in. With new songs from their new EP Creature of Habit, their set had that theatrical, chaotic energy they’re known for. They’re fun and unpredictable — breakdowns, humor, wild stage presence. The revisite of the iconic song 2 obviously made all all crowd steam the “WOOHOO”. They had the entire room sitting, jumping, opening a wall of death, and sending what felt like endless waves of crowd surfers.

Belmont came on swinging, closing the night with a high-impact set that kept House of Blues moving until the very last note. Their mix of new Last To Love tracks and older staples hit fast and hard. You could feel the crowd react instantly — jumping, shouting every word, and feeding off every shift in tempo. Sharp, loud, and confident, they delivered the kind of set that doesn’t just end a show, but seals it.

Four bands, four different energies. But together, they made the night in San Diego feel very much alive.
