The Mainliners Tear It Up at The House Of Blues Voodoo Room with Niis and the Nu-Viles

Ending their summer 2026 tour, LA-based band, The Mainliners, sold out the House of Blues Voodoo Room on Tuesday the 28th with Niis and the Nu-Viles.

A last-minute addition and a more than welcome one, So-Cal based The Nu-Viles, were racy and nostalgic, the closest the modern era can get to that classic punk rock from the 70s. A true blast, these vintage punks are the new generation of their genre.

Niis couldn’t disappoint if they tried. A spitfire of channeled rage translated; they incite a kind of welcome expression of those feelings that most people repress. Starting a pit and getting the crowd amped up is their hallmark. The band even replaced a lyric in their song, “Fuck You Boy” getting the crowd together to sing “Fuck you ICE.”

Armed with a broken leg and a dream, The Mainliners painted a raging picture of unity. The crowd kept up one of the liveliest pits to grace the Voodoo Room: a flailing mess of arms, legs, and smiling faces. A blast from the past in the best way, their combination of classic and modern punk is fiery and vibrantly rebellious, almost mirroring the impassioned scorch of a barking dog. Their songs are bitingly fast, and others are chock-full of anticipation that flows into a pop of energy. With a blown-up sex doll thrown on the chandelier and an air of aloof joy, this rager of a show proved that The Mainliners know how to party, and party well; a strong reminder of what live music should be.

The Mainliners played all the hits, between songs like “Thunderbird” and 211. They of course saved their best for last, and the room exploded at the first notes of “No Mas Tequila” and didn’t stop until the band was off the stage. The Mainliners play next in September in Highland CA, before returning to the stage in November at Huntington Beach’s Dark Waves.
