Channel Tres Turns The Sound Into a Dance Floor

Channel Tres brought The Enigma Tour to The Sound on August 28 for what quickly became one of my favorite shows of the year. From the production to the choreography, the entire performance felt incredibly intentional, turning a night of house, hip-hop, and dance music into a complete visual experience.
At the center of the stage was a raised platform that Channel moved up and down on throughout the night, giving him another level to work with as he danced alongside Forest Lee (@_forestlee) and Devan Aischa (@devanaischa). With choreography by Craig Fishback (@Craaaiig), the three moved together throughout the evening with an effortless precision that made the dancing feel just as essential to the show as the music itself. Flowing fabric, dramatic lighting, and constant movement gave portions of the performance an almost theatrical quality, while Channel’s unmistakable baritone kept everything grounded in the groove.

About halfway through the set, Channel switched things up and stepped behind the decks for a stretch of DJing. The transition felt completely natural for an artist whose music already lives somewhere between a live performance and the dance floor. One of the highlights was a wildly fun remix of Darude’s “Sandstorm,” an unexpected moment that sent even more energy through the room before he eventually stepped away from the decks and returned to singing and dancing.

That constant movement between vocalist, dancer, performer, and DJ was what made the night so much fun to watch. There was always something happening onstage without the production ever feeling overcrowded or distracting from the music. Channel Tres knows exactly how to command a room, and with Lee and Aischa beside him, the performance felt less like a traditional concert and more like a carefully built dance show that just happened to have an incredible soundtrack.

By the end of the night, it was easy to understand why this one stood out so much. Channel Tres didn’t simply come to The Sound and play his songs. He built an entire world around them, and it made for one of the most memorable performances I’ve seen this year.
