Die Spitz Electrifies at House of Blues with Snooper

This last Sunday, July 16th, Austin-based Die Spitz killed it at the House of Blues for the Rolling Stones Magazine Rock Tour. Accompanied by experimental punk rock icons Snooper, it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime night.

Snooper was undeniably phenomenal— almost like pure energy filtered into music; their set didn’t slow once. Vivid and resembling punky static, there is no band out there even slightly as radiant. Songs like “Worldwide” and “Company Car” best reflect that signature “egg punk” style come to be expected from these Nashville superstars.

Just the mere thought of Die Spitz filled the room with rushing anticipation, and the second they hit the floor, beautiful chaos erupted. A consistent mosh pit and a crowd that just couldn’t get enough, this was one of the most vigorous crowds to have graced the House of Blues, and for good reason. Die Spitz matched, if not fueled, the energy of their fans. Magnificent deep vocals paired with their signature punky hardcore tune made for an utterly showstopping performance.

Die Spitz played the songs that gave them a name in the industry– from older, undeniable hits to newer exhibitions of pure skill. They graced the crowd with “Groping Dogs Die Gushing Blood,” “Hair of Dog,” “Throw Yourself to the Sword,” and “I Hate It When Girls Die,” among many– but they didn’t play a single boring track. You can next catch Die Spitz at Lollapalooza in Chicago, Hinterland in Des Moines, and in Los Angeles in August, only a few of many upcoming tour dates.
