Primavera Sound Porto 2026: The Magic Returns to Parque da Cidade

There are music festivals, and then there is Primavera Sound Porto.

Last year, we left our hearts in Porto’s lush Parque da Cidade (you can read all about our 2025 journey here), and we’ve been counting the days until we could return. There is a specific, sophisticated alchemy to this festival—the scent of the Atlantic breeze, the rolling green hills, and a lineup that feels more like a curated art gallery than a standard concert bill.

As accredited media, ListenSD is thrilled to be heading back this June 11–14. If you haven’t booked your flight yet, let this be the sign you’ve been waiting for. Porto isn’t just a stop on the circuit; it is the destination.

To help you navigate the weekend, we’ve hand-picked the titans you can’t miss and the hidden gems that will become your new obsession.

Thursday, June 11

The Icons:

The xx: It has been far too long since we’ve bathed in the hushed, emotive minimalism of Romy, Oliver, and Jamie. Their return to the stage is the weekend’s most anticipated “hometown” feel, perfectly suited for the twilight hours in the park.

Big Thief: Few bands capture raw, jagged intimacy like Adrianne Lenker and company. Expect a set that feels both massive and whisper-quiet in the best way possible.

The Deep Cuts:

Agriculture: For those who like their music heavy but transcendent, this “ecstatic black metal” outfit from LA is a must. They find beauty in the noise, creating a wall of sound that is strangely uplifting.

The New Eves: A fascinating UK quartet blending folk, post-punk, and classical elements. They are ritualistic, rhythmic, and entirely singular—exactly the kind of “discovery” Primavera is famous for.

Friday, June 12

The Icons:

Gorillaz: Damon Albarn’s virtual collective is a guaranteed masterclass in genre-bending. From hip-hop to synth-pop, their live show is a high-energy spectacle that will have the entire Parque da Cidade moving.

Slowdive: If shoegaze has a soul, it belongs to Slowdive. Their swirling, ethereal soundscapes are practically made for the Porto atmosphere. It’s going to be a dreamlike experience.

The Deep Cuts:

Black Country, New Road: They’ve redefined the boundaries of experimental rock over the last few years. Their live sets are intense, theatrical, and deeply moving—don’t miss the chance to see them in such a scenic setting.

Gisela João: To be in Portugal and not experience the haunting power of Fado would be a missed opportunity. Gisela João brings a contemporary, sophisticated edge to the traditional genre that will stop you in your tracks.

Saturday, June 13

The Icons:

Massive Attack: The trip-hop pioneers bring their legendary, politically charged, and bass-heavy atmosphere to the final night. It’s dark, cinematic, and profoundly impactful.

IDLES: On the opposite end of the spectrum, IDLES will bring the fire. Their brand of high-octane, empathetic punk is a communal experience of joy and release that has to be felt to be understood.

The Deep Cuts:

KNEECAP: This Irish trio is taking the world by storm with their fierce, funny, and bilingual hip-hop. They are provocative, energetic, and one of the most exciting live acts on the planet right now.

Water From Your Eyes: Unconventional, danceable, and brilliantly weird. Their experimental pop is full of unexpected left turns that will keep you on your toes and dancing in the grass.
