Brigitte Calls Me Baby crooned into the hearts of SOMA San Diego with SKORTS

SOMA San Diego was the perfect venue for the Chicago crooners Brigitte Calls Me Baby . There are shows where the audience stands and nods and then there are shows like Friday May 1, 2026. Brigitte Calls Me Baby delivered a stylish and electrifying set. Supported by the high-energy, gritty garage-rock quartet  SKORTS. The night was destined to become memorable.

SKORTS

The moment SKORTS hit their stage we were hooked. Their alt-rock grit had the audience moving. Driving bass lines, distorted guitars, and a pulsing backbeat brought us in. Each  band member delivered. Allie Walls (Guitar, Vocals) and Emma Welch (Bass) delivered passionate vocals that hooked the audience. Backed by gritty instrumental performances by guitarist, Char Smith and drummer Max Berdik! SKORTS was the perfect opener for the evening.

Brigitte Calls Me Baby

When Brigitte Calls Me Baby took the stage the sold-out crowd belted the lyrics to their hit song, “Truth is Stranger Than Fiction.” At that moment, the evening turned into something cinematic. The band delivered lyrics and melodies with the flair of a vintage romance. The audience was taken on an emotional journey. Frontman Wes Leavins took command of the stage. Moving the audience with Elvis/Orbison-esque/ vocal moments and explosive bursts of raw emotion. Guitarist Jack Fluegel, bassist Devin Wessels, and drummer Jeremy Benish provided musical performances that paired perfectly with Leavins’ vocals.

The setlist flowed never losing momentum. Songs like “Pink Palace”, “I Can Take the Sun Out of the Sky”, and “Eddie My Love”, sounded massive live. Shimmering guitars and soaring vocals filled every inch of the sold-out crowd. Even in the quieter moments, you could feel the intensity of their music.

The night left me with this… Brigitte Calls Me Baby proved they are a true live act. Combined with SKORTS’ opening set, the night was the kind of show people will talk about long after the tour ends.
