Sold-out evening for legendary composer Akira Yamaoka, joined by Raj Ramayya, as part of his first U.S. tour

Raj Ramayya opens the show. From the moment he stepped onstage, his set became a celebration of the very worlds that shaped so many in the audience, known for his work across anime and game-related projects.

He referenced themes tied to iconic franchises like Cowboy Bebop, Dragon Ball, and even Go Go Power Rangers, tapping into a shared cultural memory that immediately connected with the crowd.

And then he sang the Pokémon theme song, the entire House of Blues shouting “I wanna be the very best” in unison felt surreal.

Raj created the perfect emotional bridge into Akira Yamaoka’s darker, more atmospheric world.

When Akira Yamaoka took the stage, the atmosphere shifted immediately.

Where Raj’s set was energetic and nostalgic, Yamaoka’s was focused and immersive. Low industrial pulses filled the room, followed by layered ambient textures that built gradually and deliberately.

As familiar Silent Hill themes like “Theme of Laura” and “Promise” surfaced, there was immediate recognition across the sold-out House of Blues crowd. You could even spot Pyramid Head cosplay and some other characters in the crowd.

Vocalist Esther Ortega Cantò delivered an outstanding performance, her presence adding depth and drawing the audience further into the experience.

The show moved between recognizable fan favorites and darker instrumental passages. The audience stayed fully engaged throughout, reacting quietly but attentively, matching the controlled and immersive nature of the performance.
