So much is happening this week: one of San Diego’s best punk bands is reuniting for a New Year’s Eve show, Chet Faker is throwing down a great gig at the Observatory and Hot Chip is turning the Casbah into a dance party.

Tuesday, December 29 – Chet Faker – Observatory North Park
It’s a sold out show but find a friend with an extra ticket if you can! This award winning electronic musician collaborated on his new EP Work with DJ Marcus Marr. The result is a four track extended play with funky electronic beats and Faker’s distinctive soulful voice. More info.

Tuesday, December 29 – Donavon Frankenreiter – Belly Up Tavern

Wednesday, December 30 – Hot Chip DJ Set – The Casbah
We’re huge fans of this electronic band from the UK! Besides being excellent musicians, Hot Chip has some serious DJ skills. They’ve got tons of mixes under their belt as well as studio albums! More info.

Tijuana Panthers of Long Beach, California let their Pacific surf influences shine through in their music. Their new full-length POSTER (which was recorded in only two days!) was released in August on Innovative Leisure. Locals the Soaks and Spooky Cigarette will open. More info.

Thursday, December 31 – The Sess – Soda Bar
Ring in the new year with the Sess, a lo-fi punk band that ended too soon after releasing their sole full length Agendumb in 2008. Fans of the Sess loved them for their high energy shows and catchy songs. It’s a one night only show so grab your tickets! More info.
