Ella Red brings part 2 of her Tour’s Not Real tour to the Voodoo Room with Zoe Ko and Girls Got Nerve

The night of August 8th, had the Voodoo Room transformed into a vibrant hub of alt-pop and punk-rock energy as Ella Red brought her electrifying live performance to San Diego. The intimate venue was packed with an enthusiastic crowd eager to catch a an all female lineup with really fun acts. From the very first chord played by Girls Got Nerve to the final notes of Ella Red, s concert, the fans were thrilled to participate and witness what the night had to offer.

Kicking off the night was local band Girls Got Nerve, a trio of performers who brought an incredible, and dynamic presence to the stage. Their raw punk-rock energy provided the perfect beginning for the evening, they easily won over the room with their hard-hitting, fast paced original tracks. They tore through a fast-paced setlist featuring high-energy punk rock songs like Bitch, Girls Got Nerve, Tired, Not Just A Girl, Accelerator, Nothing 2 Get, Tough Enough, Ditz, Ego, and Me & My Girls, leaving the venue completely buzzing for the upcoming acts.

Next up was Zoe Ko, who delivered a beautifully fun, dynamic, and simple set alongside her guitarist. Captivating the room with her magnetic stage presence, she danced and sang directly to the audience, creating a delightfully playful atmosphere throughout her performance. A major standout moment arrived when she hit the crowd with a high-energy cover of Kesha’s “TiKToK,” prompting a massive room-wide singing. By the tail end of her set, she also brought an extra dose of rebellious flair to her wardrobe, making a subtle change by removing her skirt to reveal bottoms with the word PARTY sewn on them, which sent cheers and laughs through the crowd. She ended her set with her two most iconic songs Lovesick in Public and DIRT leaving the stage set for Ella to come out and deliver a memorable peformance.

When Ella Red finally took over, her presence was nothing short of phenomenal. She commanded the Voodoo Room with an amazing energy dancing through the stage and singing to fans directly in the front during some of her songs. She smartly structured her concert into two distinct movements, she opened with a high-energy, dance-pop sequence featuring tracks like Parasite, Representative, Ball & Chain, We’re All Gonna Die, Funeral, He Asked for It, Predator, and Party Animal. She then transitioned into a deeply intimate, stripped-back set,  at the mic stand with an acoustic guitar to deliver heartfelt renditions of Aphrodite, Cupid, and Always the Artist, while she told the story to some of the songs. For example she mentioned how Cupid was a song about watching her sister suffering a breakup. She then finally ramped back up into her alt pop songs Religion, Thief (making a special parenthesis to mention how this song stemmed from her experience with AI and art during these times), Spider String, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, IT’S NOT REAL, and closing out with I Like You Best.

Throughout the show, Ella proved to be deeply appreciative of her fans, repeatedly expressing her gratitude and even stepping behind the barricade multiple times to sing and dance side-by-side with the front row.
