Soda Bar Hosts Benefit Concert for The Sines Frontman Dave with Sunblendr and The Wild Wild Wets

Rainy Thursdays in San Diego usually keep people home, but February 19th was different. Soda Bar served as a crowded, loud-as-hell testament to why this community exists. The night was a benefit for Dave— bartender, vocalist and musician for The Sines, and the kind of guy who actually makes the local scene feel like home. While the weather outside was trash, the room stayed packed. It was a high-voltage show of solidarity for one of our own.
The dance floor stayed full, the energy stayed raw, and Soda Bar proved once again that when one of us is down, the rest of us show up in force.

Sunbendr took the stage and immediately pulled the crowd in. They traded the usual watch and clap dynamic for a full-room sing-along, packing the floor shoulder-to-shoulder despite the rain outside. The energy stayed high, but the night shifted entirely when Isaiah Mitchell of Earthless walked out.
Having a member of a San Diego staple like Earthless show up at Soda Bar is a massive deal. Mitchell brought that signature heavy, psychedelic sound to the set, cranking the volume. It was loud, it was focused, and it showed exactly how the SD scene supports its own.

The Sines followed up with Dave front and center, singing to a room that clearly had his back. Between songs, Dave took the mic to thank the crowd for showing up. The fundraiser hits close to home—he’s fighting to recover his belongings trapped inside a condemned apartment building. According to Dave’s post, landlord negligence led the city to shutter the complex with almost no notice, leaving Dave unhoused while he scrambled for a new spot.
The set cut through the heavy reality. It was loud, emotional, and exactly what a hometown benefit should feel like.

Closing the evening, The Wild Wild Wets delivered a groove heavy set steeped in a 1970s Beatles inspired psychedelic vibe. With bongos, two drummers, twin guitars, and a frontman Mike Turi on keys and synth, their layered sound filled every corner of the venue. The band had the entire room dancing, turning a rainy weeknight into something closer to a celebration than a typical concert. Definitely keep an eye on our local venues’ calendar and don’t miss any of these bands in the furure!
