Metric and Broken Social Scene feel All The Feelings at Cal Coast Credit Union Amphitheater with Stars

A very Canadian lineup, Metric and Broken Social Scene brought their All The Feelings Tour to San Diego’s Cal Coast Credit Union Amphitheater this last Friday, June 12th. Alongside opening band Stars, it was a truly captivating night.

Stars glimmered just as much as their namesake. Digging back to the origins of indie, this true indie pop band was a refreshing callback. Hearty and summery, the band pulls from rock and almost country music, their distinctive take on their genre making it a considerably enjoyable set.

With virtually 20 band members, Broken Social Scene threw a party onstage, but a party the audience members were more than a part of. Doubling up on that 2010s indie twang, with a few straying tracks, Broken Social Scene was jumpy and fueled in the best way. Emily Haines of Metric joined the band for “Anthems For A 17-year-old Girl,” and the world has never encountered a more gorgeous harmony. A true representation of teenage angst and raw existence– this song will speak to generations to come.

A groundbreaking blend of electronic and traditional indie, Metric was everything and more. With coarse yet lucious vocals and the perfect level of excitement, they were on fire. Their music had a pulse to it, vibrant and alive. Perfectly raw lyrics and beautiful harmony, paired with their onstage energy, made their live experience terrific. After all, as they encouraged concertgoers, “circumstance is a bastard, so leave it on the dance floor.”

Metric, of course, played all the hits. With “Combat Baby,” “Help I’m Alive,” and “Black Sheep” among others. The All the Feelings Tour continues into October, with dates in America, Canada, and further abroad.
