Krooked Kings brings the best of indie rock on their first show of 14 in their In Another Life tour

On August 11th, at SOMA’s side stage, the first show of Krooked Kings “In Another Life” summer tour started hours before they came on stage, with fans waiting outside. Nearly 2 hours before doors opened, fans spent their time chatting among themselves, showing a strong bond within the community.

The show opened with Krooked Kings long time friends Pink Skies, a psychedelic pop and indie rock band bringing a unique but welcome kind of energy that radiated to the crowd. The fans got to hear several unnamed songs never to be released online and ended their set with a song never played in front of a crowd, leaving the fans wanting more.

In between sets, the crowd’s anticipation was palpable; time felt as if it slowed down while waiting, but when Krooked Kings played their first song, the crowd exploded in cheers and movement; not a single person was standing still.

The members of Krooked Kings have an undeniable bond and a power in their music, proving it in their performance. It was not uncommon for the members to dance together or play so hard that the bass player Paul Colgan’s strings snapped, leading into them playing some of their slower songs and telling a story of how they nearly missed the show because of their van breaking down, nearly stranding them.

Krooked Kings ended their set with a fan favorite song, “Lying Through Their Teeth” that had fans cheering for minutes after they had left the stage. The band returned to play 2 more songs, ending the first show of their “In Another Life” summer tour, a memory not to be forgotten any time soon.
