Dolphins On Acid rock out at the Soma Sidestage with The Grinns, Joy walk, and Mirage

Celebrating their new single, Petals San Diego locals Dophins on Acid took over the Soma Sidestage Saturday with their friends The Grinns, Joy walk, and Mirage. With no better place to spend the first day of Memorial Weekend, the bands put on a show that felt more like a party; there wasn’t a single person who refrained from nodding their head to the beat or putting a little boogie in their feet.

With both rock and roll influences and a twinge of surf rock, Mirage got the night going. Their counterparts, Joy walk, had a similar, heavy feel with a sparkle to their music. Joy Walk recently released an EP titled Back Homewhich is available on Spotify.

The Grinns can be described in one simple word: Groovy. Their distinct swagger, chill tunes, and unmistakable skill made for an incredible performance. Their set was a crowd surfers’ paradise as the audience formed a sea of hands. Expressive and hypnotizing, their upbeat melodies were almost hypnotizing.

No band can outdo the San Diego influences behind the music of Dolphins on Acid. An Indie rock band with a strong presence in the local scene, it’s hard to avoid hearing about these spunky musicians. They have an incredible stage presence and an even more powerful sound; Their set was a blast to watch and hear. Playing both oldies and goodies alongside their newer jams, these locals sure know how to party.

While Dolphins on Acid don’t have any shows planned for the future right now, if you keep an eye out, you’re sure to catch them hyping up a crowd somewhere. You can next catch The Grinns in Pomona at the Fox Theater on Friday, the 13th of June.
