Tweens, a feisty female-fronted band from Cincinnati played the Casbah Sunday night and blew everyone away with their high energy, trashy pop-tinged punk. 21-year-old lead singer Bridget Battle, who had shiny bleached blonde hair, thigh-high stockings and killer black baby-doll boots screamed and thrashed on tracks about bad boyfriends and teenage debauchery, making the slightly jaded Casbah crowd bounce and head pop with delight. On tour with Crocodiles and playing with the Black Lips and the Breeders in the past, Tweens are a band you’ll be hearing a lot about in the future.
Hometown heroes Crocodiles closed out the night and killed it with their signature nosiey garage tracks. The local scene showed loved as a big crowd bopped around the dance floor. With a slightly English-Mod style of dress, Crocodiles looked and sounded better than ever. Playing older hits like “Neon Jesus” and newer tracks off 2013’s Crimes of Passion, their set was solidly enjoyable. Til next time.
