If you plan on making a baby soon, or just want to do the baby-making deed, Chet Faker’s new album, Built on Glass, is the perfect soundtrack.

Considering that this Australian with a ginger-beard has one of the most soulful, sexy voices I’ve ever heard, it’s no surprise that his stage name is derived from the late great American jazz musician Chet Baker.

Faker first grabbed the Internet’s attention back in 2011 with his cover of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity”, where he reworked the Motown classic into a mesmerizing, slowed down swanky lounge song.

His new album, Built on Glass, works in the same vein, combining the intimate, sultry nature of R&B, minimalist and quiet yet confident sounds a la Bon Iver, and catchy, crisp hooks of house music.

The album’s first single “Talk is Cheap” is sexy anthem that will make girls everywhere weak at the knees. When Faker sings “I wanna make you move with confidence, I wanna be with you alone” that’s all it takes. We become Chet’s forever. My absolute favorite track is ‘Gold”. With a more upbeat tempo, this song is 100% smooth, as it merges old school 90’s R&B style with modern day electronic disco.

“Relax more and drift a little deeper as you listen” the album chants halfway through, encouraging you to flip over the record. This nostalgic nod to a past era ties in Chet’s entire aesthetic: a modern Australian throwing it back to the golden age of hip hop with a sexy house twist. And that, my friends, is how babies are made.

Pre-order the album, Built on Glass, on iTunes here and don’t miss out on his show at The Casbah on May 30th!
