I had too much to dream last Tuesday at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. That is, the surf adventure film presented by hipster motocycle clan Deus Ex Machina “I Had Too Much to Dream” premiered at North County venue last Tuesday, filled with tan surf-industry men with broad shoulders and beautiful blonde babes to match.
The Los Angeles pyschdelic garage rock band Allah-Las played following the film and the crowd was ripe and ready to groove. Their 60’s pysch style mixed with wavvey surf-inspired rock riffs got everyone mellow and in the mood to party. From favorite tracks like “Catamaran” to new songs like “Had It All“, we all felt the venue expand into an endless ocean of good waves and good vibes. I’ve seen the Allah Las in the desert and I’ve seen them near the beach. And now I know, I can see them anywhere and they’ll be just as awesome.
