Action/Adventure at House of Blues Voodoo Room with Diva Bleach and Not My Weekend

Fans gathered for a night packed with pop-punk and alt-rock energy as Not My Weekend and Diva Bleach opened for headlining Chicago band Action/Adventure at the VooDoo Room inside the House of Blues San Diego.

Not My Weekend opened the night with a high-energy set from their album SHIMMER.SEASON, blending early-2000s pop-punk nostalgia with a modern edge. Fronted by vocalist Patrick Gilchrist alongside guitarist Nick Hudson and drummer Noah Hammontree, their sound struck the perfect balance between nostalgic and fresh—showcasing just the beginning of what this rising act has to offer.
Next up, Pheonix pop-rock duo Diva Bleach, featuring vocalist/bassist Sydney Roten and guitarist Brie Ritter, joined on stage by guitarist Jay Pigott and drummer Spencer McCalley. Their set took the audience by storm with bright energy, electric colors, and a throwback vibe that drew from late-’90s and early-2000s pop-punk. Performing songs from their debut Can You Keep a Secret?, including “Torn in Two”, “Kiss Her Goodbye,” and “We Don’t Talk About It,” they delivered a hook-filled, crowd-pleasing set led by Sydney’s dynamic stage presence.

Finally, the moment fans were waiting for arrived as Action/Adventure took the stage. With their brand-new album Ever After dropping less than a week before the show, anticipation was high, and the band delivered in full. The five-piece lineup, featuring Blake Evaristo (lead vocals), Brompton Jackson (vocals/guitar), Adrian Brown (drums), and Oren Trace (guitar), powered through a dynamic set that blended the heavy intensity of their new material with the melodic urgency of their earlier work. (Bassist Manny Avila was notably absent from this performance.)

Tracks from Ever After showcased the band’s evolution—bigger riffs, tighter production, and lyrics that explore identity, pressure, and perseverance—while older favorites like “Barricades” still hit with undeniable force. Each song carried a mix of aggression and sincerity that defines Action/Adventure’s sound, reaffirming why they’ve become one of the most exciting voices in modern pop-punk.
The night was a celebration of both growth and connection, with a lineup that perfectly captured the spectrum of today’s alternative scene, from rising newcomers to a headliner fully stepping into their own.
