Ty Segall is one of the hardest working musicians out there, if not just one of the hardest working 28-year-old human beings. While the rest of us papas fritas sit around Netflix and chilling, Ty has put out one studio album every year since 2008, alongside a live album, three compilation albums, three EPs, nineteen singles and 12 music videos. The man just doesn’t stop. On top of this, he’s created even more music under monikers like Ty Segall Band, The Traditional Fools, Fuzz and even put out collab albums with friends Mikal Cronin, White Fence and more. I could go on, but Wikipedia is a thing. Do it yourself.

Besides the sheer volume and consistency of his work, his music is like a good pair of leather boots – better with time. Releasing his first solo album in 2008, Ty broke out of the OC bubble into San Francisco’s psychedelic garage rock resurgence alongside veterans like Thee Oh Sees. His solo work got attention with simplistic, mysterious lyrics, fuzzed out vocals, down and dirty guitar licks, fast, hard, trippy, woozy sounds that hypnotize. Not to mention completely electrifying live performances that leave your hair standing on end and a funny feeling in your pants.

So even after he releasing Manipulator, my personal favorite album slash interactive music video, only a little over a year ago, you guessed it!- Segall is back with a new album, new moniker and the same ol’ down and dirty garage rock and roll. Playing the Belly Up Tavern on January 13th, 2016 in San Diego as Ty Segall & The Muggers, he will be releasing a new album called Emotional Mugger on January 22nd to coincide. Learn more in this weird, stripped down infomercial website, where I strongly recommend calling the hotline.

So now you can’t say that you didn’t know. Miss this show and miss the best live music performance San Diego will get all year. Get your tickets HERE. NOW. DO IT. BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.
