Travesura treated a mid-week crowd at Soda Bar to a night of good old fashioned twang and folk flavored tunes.
Professional skateboarder, Leo Romero, formed Travesura with a group of friends in Long Beach a few years back. In 2014, they released a self-titled debut EP that jump started the band’s exposure within and outside of the skateboarding community.
Travesura’s classic Americana sound is a refreshing ode to the music of generations past with a nice contemporary twist. Leo’s laid back and cool demeanor on stage is a pleasure to watch.
He opened the set playing both a harmonica and guitar in a Bob Dylan-esque display of old-timey showmanship. In between songs Leo encouraged the crowd to grab a partner to dance with and charmingly dared them to kiss a neighbor on the cheek.
Leo’s charisma on stage is on par with the comfort that he exudes while skating. His witty and genuine engagement with the audience makes for a memorable experience.
