King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard put a sold out crowd at the Observatory North Park under their spell.
King Gizzard put forth a night for anyone to forget about all their troubles, and be in an environment where one is encouraged to lose their mind. Both King Gizzard and Amyl and the Sniffers brought the required energy, and gave everyone a chance to experience that feeling. We all took advantage.
Amyl and the Sniffers, Aussie buddies of King Gizzard, joined them on this tour and infused the audience with high energy from the get go. Lead by front woman Amyl Taylor, along with Dec Martens (Guitar), Gus Romer (Bass), and Bryce Wilson (Drums), the band all displayed a badass 70’s rock energy. They played their instruments with attitude, and Taylor made the stage her personal playground. They were the perfect band to amp everyone up and prepare them for King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
As soon as King Gizzard took the stage opening with “Digital Black,” the crowd broke out into a madness. The band kept the night going on this madness, playing tracks “Vomit Coffin,” “Cellophane,” “Crumbling Castle,” and about a dozen more songs. The Observatory was a full on hurricane of humanity, full of people who came to captivated by this amazing band. That Fucking Panda made an appearance, doing her crowd surfing stance, sending the crowd further down the road to crazy town. King Gizzard wanted every one to have a good time, so much so that lead singer Stu Mackenzine stopped the show several times to give security a “deep talk.” This was a start to their month long tour, and playing Desert Daze in October. Hopefully you got tickets, cause these bad boys are selling out almost every show!
