Up and coming EDM (Electronic Dance Music) producer from Sydney Australia, Hayden James, headlined at the Casbah last Wednesday night.
A plane full of Aussie musicians must have landed in San Diego recently, as Australian music artists performed throughout San Diego over the past week. From within the walls of the nearly historic Irenic venue in North Park, to the locally famous Casbah near Little Italy, San Diego music fans got a healthy dose of Australian culture in their ears.
Attracting a mostly female crowd with his bass and heart-thumping love tracks, “Just a Lover” and “Permission to Love”. Even though he released his first single only 3 years ago, his talent is evident in his ability to blend funk, soul, deep house, and future bass together into one masterful set that kept the crowd jiving through the night. The crowd loved his rhythms, and they packed the Casbah to capacity on a Wednesday night. His skill behind the DJ controller and electronic drum pad attracted world-renowned pair of music producer’s, known as ODESZA, to remix his song “Something About You”, which played a huge roll in the quick escalation of his popularity and career.
The ‘friendly and loving’ stereotype that Americans have of Australians held true on this magical Wednesday night as the Aussie music star interacted with the crowd during his set and greeted fans after the show.
Next time, Hayden, bring your whole country with you… <3
