We had the opportunity to chat with Philly Ocean from Yächtley Crëw ahead of their New Year’s Eve show at The Sound, here’s what he had to say:

LSD: When did you first set sail for the 70s and 80s?

YC: Yächtley Crëw got its start in the Southern California bar and music club scene in 2017 with a deep love of “Yacht Rock” and a desire to do something new with this genre of music.

LSD: Any favorite obscure bands from that era that you do not cover, but love?

YC: Jay Fergeson, Andrew Gold are two of our favorites. We have played them once or twice but the challenge is that when your audience doesn’t know the song, you lose them.

LSD: Your band is based in LA, who are your favorite LA local bands?

YC:  We are huge fans of the Eagles who originated in Los Angeles. Other contemporary local bands that we love are Fishbone.

LSD: You guys play often in San Diego, do you have any local bands you love?

YC: Most of the time we are in San Diego, we are playing a show ourselves so we don’t get to check out a ton of local music there. But we do wanna give a shout out to our amazing friends in Jimmy’s Buffet who played the best Jimmy Buffett covers you’ve heard!

LSD: This is your third time playing The Sound, New Year’s is a big one! Do you have any surprises in store for your fans?

YC: The Sound is such a great venue and we have a lot of fun material planned for this show. We love ringing in the new year and think that it’s a very special honor to get to play for the people of San Diego.
