Beach Goth 2019, A night of heaven in hell with the Growlers at Hollywood Palladium
Los Growlers have done it again, and put on one of the best Halloween themed nights around. In past years, Beach Goth has been a weekend-long festival, with a bunch of The Growlers’ friends taking over a huge venue. This year they did something a little different: they played three nights in a row at the Hollywood Palladium with a top secret line-up that wasn’t revealed until each artist took the stage.
ListenSD had full access to the first night on Halloween, and all of LA came dressed up for the occasion, with almost every single person in a costume or painted face. The first two bands on the bill were the new and upcoming Australian band Skegss, and garage rock legends The Black Lips! Talk about a surprise line up, and two bands that know how to get the mosh pit going. Also on the lineup was reggae icon Lee Scratch Perry, and 69 Boyz, famously known for their hit track “Tootsee Roll.” It was a group of artists that I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted, with heavy hitters from all kinds of genres.
Now was the time everyone had been waiting months for, The Growlers took the stage, and every soul in the Palladium went bananas. It was like the crowd had written the songs with them, singing every single word to each song with the most passionate voice. They played roughly two hours, giving the crowd a full dose of what they do best.
Beach Goth will always be a special event for the true Growlers fans, and will most likely be around for quite some time. Don’t miss The Growlers in San Diego 2020 playing at Soma to promote new album Natural Affair, out now!
