The Irenic was host to an all-ages show that brought local surf punk band Beach Goons home for an energetic show with a raging mosh pit and epic crowd surfing.
Beach Goons were welcomed back with an enthusiastic packed crowd of superfans; the crowd knew every lyric of their songs with the highlight being their epic performance of Vatos Tristes.
Standing room only is the rule of thumb at the Irenic, seats are not provided for most of their shows. This set-up couldn’t have been more suitable for a show like this one. When the mosh started, the 400+ capacity crowd had no other option than to start moving with the force because it was crowded to capacity upfront. The crowd surfers climbed on stage and full-on jumped off the stage into the moving crowd.
The energy was high from the start with local San Diego opening band Foxtide getting the fans started and Los Angeles band Junkie keeping the energy high with their fast surf punk songs and interaction with the crowd.
The momentum of energy created by these three bands can’t be explained with just words. Few experiences rival an event like this one.
