Hip-hop artist and culinary genius, born Ariyan Arslani but nicknamed Bam Bam, Action Bronson performed at San Diego’s House of Blues for a night of retrospective revelry and raucous raps.
As soon as the doors opened, 900 people packed into the venue to celebrate the artist’s latest stop of his 2019 White Bronco tour, which celebrates the rapper’s latest independent LP since 2012. Fans ranging from ages 20 to 40-years-old held their spot around the stage in eager anticipation for the two opening acts, hip-hop artists Meyhem Lauren and Roc Marciano, and of course, headliner Action Bronson.
Pink and blue lights illuminated the room as the vibration of the bass began increasing volume. The crowds energy instantly hyped up the room as Meyhem Lauren, an American rapper from Queens came on stage. He welcomed the crowd by giving a shoutout to San Diego then told the audience, “If you watch Fuck Thats Delicious, make some noise.” Mehyem surprised everyone in the crowd with a spray of water then opened with “Badmon Ting” from his 2016 album Piatto D’Oro. Another special treat came to the fans as the rapper ended his act by throwing several pieces of his merchandise into the crowd.
Next out, Roc Marciano, also seen on the television series, F**k Thats Delicious, performed some of his hit singles and made a sentimental shoutout to American rapper, Mac Dre, following the song “Thugs Prayer.” The act ended with Roc bringing back out Mehyem Lauren to perform their collabed song “Street Religion,” with DJ MUGGS on the track as well.
At last Action Bronson walks on stage in full comedic character, hyping up the crowd by striking power poses and demonstrating his best air guitar performance. Bronson began the show with performances of several songs on his album White Bronco, including “Mt. Etna,” “White Bronco,” and “Irishman freestyle.” As Bronson sang “I’m just out here living my best life,” during “White Bronco,” I watched him headbang through the rest of the song and thought to myself, in awe of all Bronson had accomplished, “Wow, he really is out here living his best life.”

Bronson continued his performance by surprising the audience throughout the rest of the show with guest appearances, including Mayhem, Marciano, and his cousin Big Body Bes, also seen throughout Action Bronson’s television shows and tours. Action Bronson and Roc Marciano surprised the fans by performing a throwback track called “Pouches of Tuna” from the 2015 mixtape Blue Chips 1.
Nearing the end of the show, Action Bronson takes a significant moment to make a dedication to Mac Miller, who died on September 7th, 2018. The audience screamed “Rest in Peace” at the top of their lungs, while Action Bronson performed Mac Miller’s song, “Red Dot Music,” on which he is featured.
Finally, Bronson brought out one last surprise guest, The Alchemist. The crowd was especially excited for this appearance as The Alchemist has produced many legendary hit tracks in the Hip Hop world. Action finished off the show by performing his single “Baby Blue” featuring Chance the Rapper, in which he did a spin off to Biz Markie’s, “Just a Friend.”
“I love all y’all, motherfuckers thank you,” stated by the rapper himself as he walked off the stage and ends the show. Little did the audience know, he was just walking over to the merch stand where he sold a secret treat for superfans and foodlovers: signed copies of his yet to be released book, Stoned Beyond Belief, due to be officially released a week later on March 19, 2019.
After staying at the mech table for about 40 minutes after the show Action Bronson tweeted “SAN DIEGO YOU WERE UNFORGETTABLE. SO MUCH LOVE. WHITE BRONCO TOUR HITS SANTA ANA NEXT!!”
