Album Review: Vivo En El Tiempo(ama) by Caloncho

Tras su nominación a un Latin Grammy por su quinto álbum de estudio, Tofu, regresa Caloncho con un sexto álbum: Vivo En El Tiempo (ama), fue publicado el 19 de marzo de 2026 de la mano de Universal Music Group. Este proyecto, acompañado de su tour internacional, El Tiempo Es Mi Casa, abre un nuevo capítulo emocional y creativo, ya que representa su visión del tiempo como un lugar en el que se puede estar y, de esta manera, extiende una invitación para vivir y disfrutar lo que sea que el día brinde.
El álbum cuenta con ocho canciones y una duración de 23 minutos, lo posiciona como su álbum más corto hasta la fecha. No obstante, es un álbum que, debido a su corta duración, es perfecto para escuchar en una reunión entre amigos, un viaje corto o una visita a la playa. Su lead single, Fairy Michelle, ha logrado casi el millón de escuchas y promete ser una de las favoritas del
álbum.
Vivo En El Tiempo (ama) presenta influencias de géneros caribeños, siendo el reggae la principal de ellas, ya que se puede escuchar en las melodías de la mayoría de las canciones. Esto le da al álbum una fuerte identidad y un sonido que solo Caloncho puede traer a la vida. De principio a fin, combina sus influencias de reggae con su ya característico pop alternativo. La mezcla única de guitarras, trompetas y percusiones en cada canción crea una atmósfera muy fresca y veraniega.
Dentro de las canciones que más destacan se encuentran: Óscar Alfonso, Mangos, El Día Pone y Fairy Michelle. La primera siendo la más importante en cuanto a lo que representa, pues demuestra que es un proyecto extremadamente personal para Caloncho, ya que Óscar Alfonso es su nombre de nacimiento. Las otras tres canciones mencionadas, además de presentar un sonido muy característico del reggae, hacen un maravilloso trabajo al mostrar la esencia del proyecto: mezclan elementos de su pop alternativo y contrastan emociones con las que todos podemos conectar en distintos momentos de la vida, pero que a la vez convergen en la idea principal, la importancia de vivir en el momento y de intentar nuevas cosas.

Following his nomination for a Latin Grammy for his fifth studio album, Tofu, Caloncho returns with his sixth studio album: Vivo En El Tiempo (ama), which was released on March 19, 2026, under Universal Music Group. This project, accompanied by his international tour, El Tiempo Es Mi Casa, opens a new emotional and creative chapter, as it represents his vision of time as a place one can exist in and, in this way, extends an invitation to live and enjoy whatever the day brings.
The album features eight songs and a runtime of 23 minutes, positioning it as his shortest album to date. Nevertheless, it is an album that, due to its short length, is perfect for listening at a gathering with friends, a short trip, or a visit to the beach. Its lead single, Fairy Michelle, has reached nearly one million streams and promises to be one of the favorites from the album.
Vivo En El Tiempo (ama) presents influences from Caribbean genres, with reggae being the main one, as it can be heard in the melodies of most of the songs. This gives the album a strong identity and a sound that only Caloncho can bring to life. From start to finish, it combines his reggae influences with his already characteristic alternative pop. The unique blend of guitars, trumpets, and percussion in each song creates a very fresh and summery atmosphere.

extremely personal project for Caloncho, since Óscar Alfonso is his birth name. The other three songs mentioned, in addition to presenting a very characteristic reggae sound, do a wonderful job of showcasing the essence of the project: they blend elements of his alternative pop and contrast
emotions that we can all connect with at different moments in life, but which at the same time converge on the main idea, the importance of living in the moment and trying new things.
