Tycho kicked off their tour with a mesmerizing sonic journey at The Sound in San Diego on October 29, 2024, in support of their latest album, Infinite Health. The new material preserved Tycho’s signature atmospheric vibe while introducing fresh energy and vibrant textures.
In an interview, Scott Hansen mentioned that he aimed for the album’s sound to feel like a journey—an emotional space detached from any physical place—while still retaining the organic textures of his previous work.
The band delivered an immersive experience, blending live instrumentation with pristine electronic production. Hansen moved seamlessly between a Minimoog, Virus TI, and Akai Key 37, processing each instrument through an onstage computer to precisely dial in effects. This setup allowed him to recreate the layered textures of Infinite Health with impressive fidelity, bringing the recorded album’s sound to life with remarkable clarity.
I love the sound of vintage analog synthesizers, and the Minimoog sounded incredible, producing rich, soul-piercing leads. The lead in the song “Devices” was particularly heavenly, while the Virus TI added amazing textures and pads.
The visuals synced perfectly with each beat, enveloping the audience in a world of color and light—a captivating start to Tycho’s new tour.
