The Growlers made us feel like we were still on summer vacation when they brought their Beach Goth vibes to Soma this past Wednesday.
San Diego showed up for the Growlers Beach Goth tour, with one huge line of eager fans waiting for doors to open. Within a blink of an eye, the inside of Soma was jam packed, as a majority of the crowd tried to get as close to the stage as possible.
The opener for the night was Kirin J Callinan, who had made an impression that would be hard for anyone to forget. Coming out on stage with a black and gold bullfighter jacket, a Captains hat, and a full helmet of chain mail, he orchestrated a performance full of howling screams. There were mixed reactions from the audience, but one thing was certain: all eyes were on Kirin up until he had left the stage with cheers of wanting more.
Those screams and cheers quickly turned towards the excitement of seeing The Growlers take the stage, who got things moving with “Night Ride” and the classic “One Million Lovers.” That was pretty much all it took for every single person in Soma to be completely submerged in those Beach Goth vibes that all us Growler fans love. We all sang along with with lead singer Brooks for as long as we were legally allowed to, and not one person left without the satisfaction of one epic performance.
