The Casbah

The Casbah

The Venue Every San Diegan’s Heard of, The Casbah

The Casbah has been open since 1989. Its first location had a legal capacity of 75 and hosted such bands as Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Lemonheads, The Jesus Lizard, and Rocket From The Crypt.

In the beginning of ‘94 The Casbah moved down the road to their current larger quarters and the rest is history. Their “new” location has a capacity of 200+, an enclosed smoking patio, and the back Razzmatazz Room featuring a pool table, booths, and a full bar. There is also a music room with a full bar and a state-of-the-art sound system.

The Venue

The Casbah is known to many as a casual and laidback venue. Fans leave shows feeling like they spent the night hanging out with their favorite band because of the intimate atmosphere the venue brings. Some folks would go as far as claiming The Casbah as being the best rocker bar in San Diego!

The Casbah is sure to bring the unique acts 6 to 7 nights a week! So whatever plans fell through, on any day of your week you’re guaranteed a local show at the beloved Casbah. But, have you ever been confused to see a concert poster with the words “The Casbah Presents…” and the show was at a different San Diego venue? While The Casbah has their own physical venue on Kettner Blvd, they also host a lot of concerts outside the main venue including: Music Box SD, House of Blues, Belly Up, Soma, and more. This is the biggest reason how every San Diegan has seen or heard the name The Casbah.

Tips and Tricks

We recommend buying tickets online instead of at the door since some shows sell out weeks before the concert. When you purchase tickets online, The Casbah box office recommends that you select the will call option – your name will be on a list at the door and you don’t have to worry about your tickets showing up in the mail, or losing them, or the dog eating them, or anything like that – simply show up, ask for your name on will call and you’re all set. Just like that.

Ultimately, if you’re a fan of live music, The Casbah is no doubt the venue to express it. Hope to see you there!
