WELCOME TO POST-PARADISE

SD LOCALS MORSKIE OKO SET FIRE TO THE MUNDANE WITH ‘BORN TO WEEP’

San Diego post-punkers Morskie Oko have debuted their first of four new tracks set to release beginning in Fall 2024. Born to Weep is a 2:35 onslaught of the senses with a grit and punch that draws inspiration from both post-punk pioneers and the genre’s more aggressive contemporaries.

Through their forthcoming releases beginning October 11th, Morskie Oko (meaning “Eye of the Sea” in Polish) explores the concept of a dystopian, post-paradise version of Southern California. The quartet’s tracks paint a not-so-fictional future state of a beachside utopia that succumbs to its social and environmental crises. Born to Weep delivers an entry point to this post-paradise, as if waking up from a deep sleep and realizing that something…just ain’t right. “As locals, we see pure beauty in this community but also the problems it faces every day. We ourselves have faced these challenges head on, from the arduous process to immigrate here to the unaffordable costs pushing us to the outskirts of the city. Born to Weep is a realization that daily life can be a struggle, and that even in paradise it’s okay to be dissatisfied with the status quo and, sometimes, have the itch to scream and get the fuck out” – Morskie Oko. They will be playing several local shows – including a Halloween set at Soda Bar on October 28th, 2024 – to kick off the releases.
