Chill vibes were prominently present at Real Estate‘s packed show.
As the crowd was shuffling in, Bedouine played a stripped-down, yet intimate set. Equipped with just an acoustic guitar and her voice, she brought grace to every song. Wearing a medieval-like dress, her attire fit like a glove alongside her smooth 60’s folk music. She effortlessly fingerpicked arpeggios while perfectly sustaining notes through her mesmerizing voice. For her last song, she brought out Real Estate early to perform her single “One of These Days.” As of now she only has one album out, but it’s worth checking out if you’re a fan of Laura Marling or Leonard Cohen.
By the time Real Estate got on stage, the venue was completely filled up. They opened up with one of their most dramatic songs, “Saturday” from the new album In Mind. They performed many indie psych-pop tunes from the recent release, as well as hits across their whole discography. Although known for being one of indie rock’s most chill band, they surprisingly know how to get an audience pumped. Bassist Alex Bleeker would get the crowd amped up with his humorous on-stage banter. When it came to the encore, he spoke for the whole band by asking if the audience wanted more. Of course, everyone inside were screaming for more tunes. They played one of my personal favorites “It’s Real” from the critically acclaimed Days. Overall, Real Estate still take the title of most chill jangle pop band. At first, I honestly expected them to be boring live, but they proved me way wrong.
