Pond swept us off our feet for a sold-out night at the Casbah that brought their Aussie psych vibes to San Diego.
Hailing from Perth, Australia, Pond has a revolving line-up that consists of Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson, Joe Ryan and Jamie Terry. The concept of the band was formed to be able to get anyone they wanted to play whatever they wanted in a collaborative music project. Lucky for us, that project became Pond.

Their performance and music pushes the boundaries of creativity with their acid-melting beats and heartfelt lyrics. They played hits off their latest album, The Weather, sending the crowd into euphoria. That Fucking Panda even showed up and did some crowd surfing for “Paint Me Silver.” With visa issues causing the band to delay their original January performance date to May, it was well worth the wait to see these Aussies ooze their psychedelic melodies into our brains.
Their sound ranges from sexy and sultry to raucous headbangers. If there’s anything we can learn from this band, it’s to never give up your creativity. Their passion for music and all things weird and psych are very much alive in their music. Next time these fellows take a trip over the Pond, we highly recommend not missing it. They might just sweep you off your feet.
