Ohana Fest 2025: Three Days of Musical Magic by the Pacific

It was my first time at Ohana Fest, and they demonstrated why it is an outstanding can’t-miss event for music enthusiasts and beachgoers alike. During their takeover from September 26-28, 2025, this coastal celebration at Doheny State Beach provided a remarkable experience that felt both expansive and meaningful.

Flawless Execution and Picturesque Setting

What immediately impressed me about Ohana Fest was its impeccable organization throughout the entire three-day run. The event maintained perfect timing, featuring consecutive performances that kept the energy continuously flowing. This operational excellence, paired with the breathtaking seaside location, established a genuinely perfect environment. Even with the warm temperatures, there was always somewhere to relax and find relief from the heat. The waterfront setting provided a stunning visual canvas, enhanced by gorgeous September conditions and emanating welcoming, comfortable atmospheres all weekend long.

A Feast for All: Dining and Community

Apart from the musical performances, the culinary selections were outstanding, featuring numerous food vendors distributed throughout the coastal venue, accommodating diverse preferences and dietary needs. What particularly impressed me as someone with gluten sensitivities was the extensive array of options available for people with my restrictions. The brand partners brought tremendous energy, freely distributing abundant merchandise and establishing unforgettable photo experiences across the grounds. Local law enforcement even participated in pictures at the Jimmy John’s photo station, perfectly capturing the festival’s inclusive nature.

Mon Rovîa

Despite hosting thousands of attendees, Ohana Fest successfully cultivated a strong sense of togetherness. It genuinely resembled a massive reunion of individuals united by their deep musical passion, generating an environment of collective happiness where countless people were moving and enjoying themselves.

A Diverse Lineup Spanning All Ages and Musical Styles

The event’s three-day roster was absolutely outstanding, displaying remarkable variety across different generations and musical genres. Crowds eagerly flooded in right at noon, enthusiastic about each day’s opening act.

Akira Galaxy
Makua

Day One kicked off with Makua, who received a personal introduction from the host Eddie Vedder. The day additionally featured Akira Galaxy, Hinds, Deep Sea Diver, Kim Deal, Lukas Nelson, Stereophonics, Garbage, and headliners Eddie Vedder with Earthlings and Kings of Leon. Akira Galaxy’s set was one that really stood out to me as she came down into the crowd getting up close to the audience and holding the hands of up front fans.

Day Two began with The Alain Johannes Band, also introduced by Eddie Vedder to an incredible audience reaction. The day was way more crowded from the start and included David Duchovny, Chaparelle (featuring amazing midday two-step dancing), Mon Rovîa, Mdou Moctar who absolutely rocked the floor, Royel Otis, Margo Price, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and headliners Leon Bridges and Hozier. Eddie Vedder could be seen going around on his bike throughout the day, adding to the festival’s all inclusive feel. Royel Otis had an amazingly interactive set with massive inflatable pink beach balls bouncing all over the audience. Further Ela Melo of Rainbow Kitten Surprise had a jaw dropping performance grabbing the attention of everyone in the audience.

Wetleg
Skating Polly
Cage The Elephant

Day Three delivered an epic conclusion with Skating Polly, The Criticals, The Chats, Lambrini Girls, James, Wet Leg, and the amazing headlining duo of Cage the Elephant and Green Day. Cage the Elephant’s pyrotechnics during the first songs made me feel the heat from the pit. I asked some people in the front row and they were super excited to have been so close to the “explosive” set. Even with the vast amount of people coming for day three to see Green Day, everyone was blown away with the unexpectedly good set by artists earlier in the day. I was definitely amazed by Skating Polly and Wetleg. Both their performances made me jump up and down in excitement. Eddie Vedder’s personal introductions and presence throughout the weekend added a special curatorial touch that elevated the entire experience. His genuine endorsements of the artists created a sense of musical family that extended from the stage to the sand.

Unforgettable Experience and a Longing to Return

The overall vibe of the festival was pure joy and celebration. The passionate music lovers from around the globe, combined with exceptional organization and the stunning oceanfront setting, contributed to an incredibly positive atmosphere. From the opening rush of excited fans to the final notes of Green Day, every moment felt special.

Leon Bridges

We couldn’t speak highly enough about our experience at Ohana Fest 2025. If you enjoy festivals and the beach, we highly recommend visiting Dana Point for this exceptional beachside event. The combination of world-class artists, stunning location, incredible food, and genuine community spirit creates something truly magical. We are already looking forward to our next visit and hope to be back!
