Monophonics, GA-20, and Kendra Morris played Music Box this past week, and left every square inch of that place filled with the most tender love.
It was a Thursday night, and if you’re into soul, blues, and all around loving music, then Music Box was the place for you to be. With a line up consisting of up and coming hitters, it was a night where everyone came dressed to impress with their main squeeze on the arm.
Singer-songwriter Kendra Morris opened up the night with a voice that could send chills through your whole body. She had the power to make you think of a past love or current love you had with you staring into your eyes. Kendra swayed through her entire set with a glowing aura surrounding her, the whole room fell in love with her that night.
Next up was a Trio consisting of two guitarists, and a drummer, GA-20. Hot damn this band came out on a whole different level, hitting the whole crowd in the face with some good old fashioned blues, with a dash of soul, and a sprinkle of rock and roll. Not only did they get everyone’s bodies moving, but they got their souls dancing like they were transported all the way back to the 50’s.
Last but not least we had Monophonics, and when they took the stage, there was a roar from the crowd, and an undeniable feeling that the moment we had waited for had arrived. Frontman Kelly Finnigan took the center stage with a keyboard in front of him, and another one on his side, almost looking like a mad scientist about to get down and dirty in his lab. Playing songs like “Hanging On”, “Warpaint”, and “The Shape Of My Teardrops”. Monophonics had the Music Box jumping, Crying, and aching for love all within the span of their set. After a two song encore, we all wanted more of the soulful voice from Mr. Kelly Finnigan, so much that after everyone had cleared the room you could hear Monophonics being blasted from cars outside the venue.
Be sure to catch this incredible band live.
