Lots of shows this week for San Diego! Some of our favorites: Frankie Cosmos at Irenic, Kaleo at SDSU, and Spotlights at Soda Bar.
Tuesday, August 29
Kaleo – Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at SDSU
Kaleo is one of Iceland’s best musical imports (after Björk, of course). They’re known for their catchy indie blues rock single, “Way Down We Go.” Don’t count on AFI replacing them in the lineup like at the last 91x holiday show, though. More info.
Wednesday, August 30
San Cisco, Wooing – Irenic
You can count on most bands on Fat Possum Records’ roster to be excellent–including indie pop group San Cisco. These Aussie musicians released a new album in May called The Water. More info.
Thursday, August 31
Thee Oh Sees, Zig Zags, Lars Finberg – Teragram Ballroom
SOLD OUT 🙁 Thee Oh Sees are near and dear to ListenSD’s That Fucking Panda‘s heart. She got to do an epic stage dive during their Desert Daze performance last year. More info.
Thursday, August 31
Mrs. Henry, Bad Vibes, Le Ra, Dream Burglar, DJ Lexicon Devil – Casbah
It’s a local band night at the Casbah this Saturday! You’ll enjoy this show if you’re into garage rock. More info.

J. Hofstee, Inspired and the Sleep, Jason Andrew – Soda Bar
This Thursday soiree will be the EP release show for J. Hofstee. You might recognize him from his other bands Spero and Lead Pony. More info.
Friday, September 1
Drab Majesty, Second Still, The Victoriana – SPACE Bar
Don’t be fooled by the makeup–Drab Majesty’s music is stunning. The darkwave project of Deb Demure, Drab Majesty features Johnny Marr-like guitar chops and ethereal synths. More info.
Saturday, September 2
Frankie Cosmos, iji, Nancy Sin – Irenic
Fans of the jangle rock bands on K Records will love Frankie Cosmos. Also known as Greta Kline, Frankie Cosmos has two albums under her belt: Zentropy (2014) and Next Thing (2016). More info.
Sunday, September 3
Spotlights, The Anomaly, Micelves – Soda Bar
Brooklyn’s Spotlights play music equal parts shoegaze and sludge. They’re releasing a new EP this Fall called Seismic. More info.
