Less Than Jake clowns around at the Observatory North Park with Suicide Machines, Fishbone, and Catbite

After an exciting opening at the Vans Warped Tour, Less Than Jake brought their summer circus shenanigans to the Observatory North Park for not one, but two extraordinary nights. With legendary openers Catbite, Fishbone, and the Suicide Machines, the night was jam-packed with legendary ska, a high-energy crowd, and unforgettable memories.

Setting the stage was spunky and colorful Catbite; these Philadelphia partypeople know how to bring the anticipation, and from playful lyrics to groovy tunes, Catbite started the night with a spark. Remarkable rhythm and spectacular stage presence were the hallmarks of Fishbone. 40+ years of doing what they love under their wing, and they’ve fine-tuned all the best parts of a life performance. With an incredible horns section and the best dance moves for miles, these guys are truly extraordinary. No band connected with the audience more than old-school punk rockers, the Suicide Machines. Based in Detroit, with a rowdy spirit and loving attitude, their energy is contagious.

The perfect band for a summer circus, Less Than Jake understood the assignment. A nonstop pit and a crowd that brought the energy, this night was bananas (and so was the costumed monkey with an inflatable banana onstage.) And that wasn’t the only prop, from bringing fans in rainbow wigs onstage to dance, to their classic toilet paper guns, it’s clear that with Less Than Jake, it’s not just a circus in the summer, but all year round. If you weren’t skanking and shouting along, you weren’t there. Remarkable in their love for the act, with less than Jake, it may just be the “same old story of growing up and getting lost,” but many find the meaning in the rambunctious sound of Less Than Jake.

The Less Than Jake summer circus stretches from July 25th to August 16th, with the band pitching tents all across North America, including but not limited to Seattle, Denver, and even Nashville.
