Lauryn Hill busted out all the iconic classics we know and love for the “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 20th Anniversary Tour” stop at Cal Coast Open Air Theatre.
The R&B/Hip-Hop sensation took the stage quite early, and an eager crowd awaited with our 90’s hearts screaming. For about an hour and a half Ms. Hill serenaded the lovely folk of San Diego with every song on the infamous “Miseducation” album, beginning with tracks “Lost Ones,” and “Everything is Everything.” By this time, you could already see the tears flowing, and they were most definitely tears of happiness, as we all felt a feeling of nostalgia that crept into all our hearts.
Ms. Hill kept going down the album track list, and deeper into our souls, with songs “Ex-Factor,” and “Doo wop (That Thing),” hits that have been played endlessly over the music airwaves. Ms. Hill also had a sense of a commander as she gave signals to her band, and back up singers, making sure every song was executed to her satisfaction. She ended the set with a remix of Drake’s “Nice for What” which left the crowd at an all time high, and also left us wondering if the remix was a sign of future music to come… we can only hope!
