Wednesday night, done right thanks to the boys in Grizzly Business and Inspired & the Sleep taking over San Diego’s premier live music citadel.

New locals to the scene Con mi Amigo got the The Belly Up buzzing and notched up the vibe dial so that the stage was set for the business of Grizzly.

Now, unlike many local bands these boys are on a strict 1st name basis with their audience. Walter, the dashing crooner; Brian, the jolly seasoned bass man who makes tall people in the audience comfortable; Corey, the kinetic yet classy guitar hero and Matthew, the love-able drummer boy that takes his pants off instead of his shirt to everyone’s satisfaction. Reminiscent of the Cold War Kids & The Strokes, Grizzly Business is NOT a boy band; It is a band of boys that showed by their lightning performance at the Belly Up that they were ready for their big stage debut!
Inspired & the Sleep is no stranger to the Belly Up and shows around town.  But when this psych pop paradise of a band is headlining, get your ass out of that stuffy craft beer bar in North Park and get a lyft down to Solana Beach.  Max & Bryce are maestros of the new beachy, psych pop sound and it’s time for everyone to FEEL IT for themselves.  Max executes his beautifully crafted melodies while thumping the groove throughout the club, alluding to the outer-worldly talents of rock god Geddy Lee of Rush.  And if that wasn’t enough, while Bryce subtly layers sweeping synth and ambient guitar concoctions, Max jumps off the stage into the sea of his inspired devotees and ends the nite performance with crowd favorite “Fly Low” as the encore.
I’m still jumping like a jelly bean as I type this and am pumped for both Inspired and the Sleep and Grizzly Business’s upcoming releases.
