gnash returns to live music and reconnects with his audience at Voodoo Room with guests Brake and Mark Diamond

On the night of September 9th, the Voodoo Room at the House of Blues transformed into a warmly intimate space of long-awaited reunions as gnash brought The Garden Tour to San Diego. The evening carried a sense of anticipation, gathering dedicated fans into the room to witness a multi genre lineup. From the moment the doors opened, the venue was thrilled for what would be an exceptionally memorable night of storytelling, vulnerability, and infectious indie-pop and hip-hop melodies.

Kicking off the show was Brake, who immediately caught everyone’s eye with an unmistakable superstar aura from the second he stepped under the lights. Dressed in striking vintage attire, his stage presence was magnetic, effortlessly pairing his stylish look with an amazing vocal range and a rich, genre-blending musical vibe. Tying together elements of blues, classic rock and roll, indie rock, and country, his opening performance fit him amazingly and proved to be the ultimate kickstart to wake up the room.

Taking the stage next was Mark Diamond, who delivered a beautifully stripped-back and intimate acoustic set that deepened the night’s emotional connection. He brought a wonderfully warm energy to the audience, dedicating a heartfelt section of his performance directly to his wife. Introducing his song Hwy 18, he shared the personal story behind the track, explaining how that specific road had served as the backdrop for the most pivotal chapters of his life, from growing up as a kid with his mom driving him through it, to enduring his toughest heartbreak, and eventually driving down it on his very first date with his now wife.

The headline moment finally arrived as gnash stepped back onto a concert stage for his first full headlining tour stop in over seven years. Marking the official opening night of The Garden Tour, he made every single second worth the wait. He walked out wearing a custom white jumpsuit covered in colorful flowers taped across the fabric, carrying a watering can to playfully water the floral stage decorations around him. He instantly locked in with the crowd, expressing just how happy he was to launch the tour in San Diego since its proximity to his hometown made it feel like a comforting, full-circle homecoming.

The performance flowed through a meticulously crafted setlist that balanced hit classics with fresh energy. The set opened with u don’t get me and imagine if, before moving through sometimes, feelings fade, tell me it’s ok, and i miss you. He then surprised fans with a live performance of get well soon in the middle section, leading into autopilot, dear insecurity, the broken hearts club, home, i hate u, i love u, and t-shirt. After wrapping up the main sequence with butterfly and fuck me up, gnash brought the entire room together for one final, unified moment, closing out the night with a iconic Beatles cover that had the entire venue singing along in unison. He finally promised he would be back soon since it’s so close to his home in LA.
