glaive and Tiffany Day Turn Observatory North Park Into Something Unforgettable
glaive brought his God Save The Three Tour to Observatory North Park in San Diego on October 18th with Tiffany Day opening. Doors were at 7:30 and just a few minutes later Tiffany blasted into her set.

Out of all the concerts I have been to I honestly cannot think of an opener who worked a crowd the way she did. She had people moving within minutes of doors opening and kept it there through her entire set. She ran through ten songs, opening with START OVER before moving through PRETTY4U, AMERICAN GIRL with an extended outro, TELL ME WHAT I DID, BREAKUP, LOOK UP, SAME LA, IT’S NOT LIKE THAT ANYMORE, EVERYTHING I’VE EVER WANTED, and closing with DOIT4ME.

Her energy on stage is the pure essence of joy, that is the only way I can describe it. Every time she was dancing around up on stage I couldn’t help smiling. Her set was the kind that hits harder than you would expect. Throughout her time on stage multiple mosh pits opened up, which didn’t even catch me off guard. It purely illustrated all the energy Tiffany puts into the show. The lighting was dark and heavy on blues and purples, very flashy and constantly moving. It was stunning to watch but made shooting her a real challenge.

I’m a major Tiffany Day fan so it was awesome to see her in this setting, especially opening for another one of my favorites, glaive!

When glaive came out the whole room shifted completely. He opened with the empty Wales chair as a tribute to 1kurtains, who co-worked on the album, but was not able to join the North America leg due to visa issues. It was a heavy way to open the set and everyone in that room felt it.

The lighting for glaive’s set was something else entirely. It moved with the music and hit at exactly the right moments throughout the night. The sound design was phenomenal. The low end was heavy enough to feel in your chest and the mix stayed clear even when the crowd was going completely sideways.

And the crowd absolutely lost it. Mosh pits cracked open across the floor constantly. It was awesome to see how energetic yet nondestructive they were. The movement in that room never really stopped. This crowd was the kind that could sing along to every word.

He ran through a 22-song set pulling from across his catalog. Spinning Around opened things up, then he moved through Yaya Touré, UNCA/Composure, Weston Super Mare, Crisis, uk bitches, We Don’t Leave the House, Foreigner, Appalachia, Asheville, For God and Country, ik, Bluebirds, Fuck, living proof (that it hurts), pardon me, EVERYDOG HAS ITS DAY, Nouveau Riche, Weird, Nothing is Real, Nobody’s Fault / Accept My Own, and Let’s Link Up and Die before leaving the stage. He came back for an encore and closed out the night with The Troubles and then The Band.

What makes this show stand out is how well the two of them complement each other. Tiffany brings a melancholic warmth and joy that makes you feel good just watching her. glaive pulls you down to somewhere more intense. Together the night covered a lot of emotional ground and neither set felt like filler. It is only a couple days later and I’m already wearing both of their merch to show my love.

If you missed out on glaive this time around make sure to check him out on another stop of the tour
