Gelli Haha Turns the Voodoo Room Into a Playground with Big Sis

Last Tuesday night, May 19th, 2026, Gelli Haha brought her trampolines to the Voodoo Room at House of Blues San Diego, to put on a whimsical, colorful show and bring out the child in all of us.

The opener for the show was brother-sister duo Big Sis, originally from Liverpool and now based in LA. They have a unique charm and sound together, creating playful, dance forward music with lyrics that are both hilarious and topical to realistic issues of daily life. They walked onstage wearing matching giant versions of khakis and a white polo shirt, and shed layer after layer throughout the show to real smaller, varied versions of the same outfit. They riff off of each other like siblings do, and look like they are having the time of their lives performing on stage together. They are fully immersed in the songs as they perform them and fully bring the audience along for the ride. The crowd was constantly laughing and giving into the playfulness of their set, which was a perfect warm up before experiencing the playground of Gelli Haha.

Gelli Haha is the new stage name of artist Angel Abaya, who released her first record under the name this year, titled “Switcheroo.” The character of Gelli Haha is meant to be a representation of her own inner child, and that can be heard in the music and felt during her live performance. The album brings a childlike wonder and silliness to pop music, with bouncy synths and experimental production choices that feel like you’re playing Bop-It.
The live performance has the same playful energy, set up on the stage were red, yellow and blue cubes stacked in a tower and blow-up dolphins sitting on top. She had two backup dancers and mesmerizing choreography throughout each song, almost always involving the props, including a trampoline routine and the childhood essential of a giant rainbow parachute. Gelli herself was wearing a matching set that looked like it was made out of said parachute. The way she moved her body to her music and let every inhibition go was inspiring and fun and gave the audience no choice but to join her. In one of the last songs, the dolphins were sent flying over the crowd, swimming above everyone’s cheering hands.

The show was overflowing with color, joy, whimsy, and the perfect pop sound to accompany it all. Gelli Haha is continuing her tour and bringing it to Europe starting next month in Barcelona!
