WHAT IS RAWARDS?

The top 3 nominees from 9 artistic categories from the 2013 San Diego year will be performing and we will be announcing the winners and the RAW: San Diego Artists of the year who will have a chance to move on to the national round to win RAWards Artist of the Year!

The nominees will be joined by a handful of Directors Highlights, artists who have been selected from over 500 artists RAW: San Diego has featured in the last 3 years to share the spotlight!

Ed Ghost Tucker

Ed Ghost Tucker is a four piece Indie/Island/Folk/Pop group from San Diego who blend three-part vocal harmonies over richly layered instrumentation and eclectic time signatures. The band consists of Ryan Miller, Rutger Rosenborg, and Cameron and Michaela Wilson. EGT has been nominated for a San Diego Music Award during their first year together in 2013. They’ve also been featured by local music blog and TV series SoundDiego, and released a single called ‘Devils’ with the Lost Ark Studio in September 2013.

 

 

Blacktop Royalty

Blacktop Royalty is an American alternative rock band that formed in San Diego, California, in 2011. The band’s line-up is Scott Middough (lead vocals, keyboard, guitar), Jason Brady (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals), Michael Greenlese (guitar, backing vocals), and Dave Saunders IV (drums). The group features eclectic catchy rock n’ roll the likes of bands like Cold War Kids, Switchfoot, Foo Fighters and more. Blacktop Royalty had spent most of their entire career as a band writing for their debut album. The band launched a fundraiser via Kickstarter.com to raise money for the project. With the success of the fundraiser the band began recording their album at Voltage Productions in Temecula, California. Blacktop Royalty self-released their full-length debut album, Heart’s Still at Home, January 2013 (available on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify). Since then the band has been featured playing live on Channel 5 The CW, SoundDiego on NBC, as well as many live shows in the Southern California area. Belmont Lights

Belmont Lights is an Alt/Pop/Rock band from San Diego, CA. After 2 years of playing shows throughout the west coast, and releasing two EPs (“Soon Enough” 2010 & “Sparrow” 2011) under the name, The Pennant, the band gained attention from industry professionals who advised them that a name change would be best for a mainstream appeal. In 2012 they became known as, Belmont Lights. Since their mid 2012 release, Belmont Lights has been featured in the Music Connection Magazine (November 2012 Issue) with the highest rated album review (9.0/10.0) and featured in the Music Connection Magazine (December 2012 Issue) as the Top 100 Live Unsigned Bands, as well as the Top 10 Album Reviews of the Year. The live show of Belmont Lights has been well received, which has earned them shows on the main stages of the House of Blues Sunset Strip, the House of Blues San Diego, The Roxy, The Troubadour, The Viper Room, and the Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco, and has allowed them opening slots for national acts such as Andy Grammer, ZZ Ward, Ernie Halter, Tony Lucca, and John West, along with an invitation to play the 2013 Whole Planet event at SXSW in Austin, TX. The band is currently writing & recording their first full length album, while touring up and down the coast.
