We chatted with singer songwriter, Mike Wojniak, on his inspiration for writing music, favorite venues to play and what’s coming up next for him. Check it out below!

How did you get your start as a musician?

Mike Wojniak: I started studying music in 5th grade beginning with the trombone. Shortly thereafter, I started guitar lessons and even became a tuba player for a while. I took a number of music classes in college from completing a three class series on electronic music to piano and voice classes. Currently, I play the ukulele as well as the guitar and piano and on previous recordings I have played other instruments such as the banjo, mandolin, trombone, violin, bells, drums, and trumpet.

What are your main inspirations when song writing?

Mike Wojniak: My love for nature plays an influential role in my music. I also draw inspiration from the people I have met throughout my life and the places that I have visited. Experiencing other cultures has a way of broadening our perspectives and allows us to see things from another angle. Traveling, like music, cultivates personal growth; it teaches patience and flexibility, it has the ability to change lives.

What is your favorite venue to play in San Diego?

Mike Wojniak: I enjoyed playing at the San Diego Fair in Del Mar last year and look forward to playing there again on June 21st. I also like playing at the local farmers markets where I have met many cool and interesting people.

What’s next for you?

Mike Wojniak: I will be playing a lot of shows in different US cities through the rest of June and most of July. I also plan to release a new single and EP in the early fall along with tour dates in Europe.
