Foreign music is a beautiful thing, especially when the boarder you’re talking about is only a 15 minute drive away from home. Tijuana artist Eduardo Mezcual, better known as “Grenda” is 16 and performed for his first time here in San Diego Tuesday, September 8th at The Merrow in Hilcrest. Son of Roman Bostich of Bostich+Fussible, Grenda has created his own sound by using hip-hop influenced rhythms mixed with techno and down tempo beats.

Static Disco put out his EP “Living Right” and will be dropping his new album mid October. Creating the whole EP in two months on his computer, the first track that you hear is “I’m a fool”. Delivering trap like beats and low clear vocals you can feel the simple meaning of his lyrics. The crowd was no larger than 20 people for this small under the radar event, but Grenda put on a performance worth giving to 200. It’s not always about the quantity of people that show up to your set, but the quality that you’re putting out.
