The Young Wild may be the best San Diego band you haven’t seen this year. By embarking on a full US tour and staying off the local flyer list, the group has grown a large fanbase and found success outside county lines. From a headlining spot at this year’s Oysterfest all the way to the House of Blues in New Orleans, The Young Wild is taking their love to town and making it big right under our local noses.

With their full length album slated for a 2016 release, teaser single “Not a One” has become a clap-along anthem. Driven by piano and female background vocals, the track is angelically textured. Sounding more pop gospel than alternative, the band has crafted a relaxing simplicity that still manages to make the listener want to dance.

Meanwhile on another planet entirely, psychedelic soul-whispers The Verigolds continue to water a long since neglected part of the local scenes garden. Even with performances everywhere from the Belly Up to House of Blues this year, we are still thirsty for their sonic sound waves, flowery crowns, and viola strings that caress.

The group has earned their place as San Diego darlings and SoundDiego 2015 Best New Artist honor. Here’s their new music video to hold you over.

Indie duo Western Scene and LA rock outfit Great White Buffalo round out the 1/2/16 bill for what promises to be yet another great show at the Music Box. Tix available here.
