Weird Hues One Year Anniversary Launch Party

Weird Hues is an experimental art movement dedicated to creating an artistic atmosphere in San Diego and Tijuana.

A wave of young artists are coming together to put on a Do-It-Yourself music and art festival in a city that rarely provides emerging artists opportunities to showcase their work and play their music. The New York 500 (a community of 500 artists working, creating music and art, and supporting one another in NYC during the 1970s) influences and inspires the Weird Hues collective. Like the NY 500, the artists and musicians of Weird Hues practice a variety of mediums: film, photography, murals, sculpture, music, painting, drawing, writing, poetry, installation, performance, etc., and strive to support each other’s work in any way possible.

San Diego attracts tourists, retirees, craft beer aficionados, surfers, but rarely artists. We believe that San Diego, America’s Finest City, needs a powerful, youth-driven artistic movement. Last June, we put together the first Weird Hues Art & Music Show in Chula Vista, featuring over 50 visual artists and 5 musical artists with over 800 attendees.

This year we are bringing the show outdoors to an open field in Barrio Logan. ENJOY (solo project of Wyatt Shears from The Garden) and Cowgirl Clue will be headlining. We will be showing over 50 visual artists displaying sculptures, installations, visual projections, paintings, drawings, and performance art. A dozen musical artists will be playing on two different stages throughout the night. Performing on the main stage will be svelte, mystery caveKAN-KAN, peggy 183, and headliners ENJOY and Cowgirl Clue. Chicho 3000, Laje, COASTRAL, Gabonano, TEC, and Jesusdapnk will be playing on the side stage. The Weird Hues One Year Anniversary Launch Party will highlight the art and music of emerging and dedicated young artists in San Diego.
