The Roots – Observatory North Park
The Roots are much more than Jimmy Kimmel’s backing band. Originally from Philadelphia, The Roots are considered one of the greatest hip-hop groups of our time known for their jazz influences and deep musical knowledge. Tickets are a steep $70 but it’s probably worth every penny, especially if you missed their set at the inaugural KAABOO. More info.

Friday, July 14

A Night Of Nick Cave Songs – Space Bar
If you missed Nick Cave at the Balboa Theatre a couple weeks back, here’s the next best thing: San Diego musicians covering Nick Cave. Expect members of Hexa, Soft Lions, Warsaw, and more covering gothy hits like “In My Arms” and “Red Right Hand.” More info.

Friday, July 14

Dead Heavens, Warsaw, Calcutta Kid – Soda Bar
Dead Heavens is a psych rock band from New York City. Their most recent single “Fell Low” was released in 2016 through San Diego based Thrill Me Records. Local band Warsaw and Calcutta Kid will open. More info.

The Pesos, Lil Ted Band, Rubenstein Drive By – UNIV Studio
UNIV Studio is an all ages, multi-purpose space used for art and music events in Encinitas. Great to see a full roster of music events on their site! You might be hard pressed to find tons of all ages venues in San Diego. 🙁 More info.
