There’s a ton of shows this weekend including Mayer Hawthorne’s project Tuxedo, The Gloomies, Shigeto at Soda Bar and “A Thousand Miles” singer Vanessa Carlton at the Casbah.

Monday, January 18 – The Gloomies, Goldensuns, Other Bodies – Soda Bar
If you haven’t been one of The Gloomies shows at Soda Bar for their January Monday night residency then you’re messing up, but it’s OK cause you can see them TONIGHT for FREE with Goldensuns and Other Bodies. Do it.

Wednesday, January 20 – The Bright Light Social Hour, James Supercave – Soda Bar
Bright Light Social Hour is a psych-rock band started by a group of college friends. Their newest release, Space is Still the Place, dropped March 10, 2015 on Frenchkiss Records. More info.

Friday, January 22 – AJ Froman, Glasmus, Flatlands – Soda Bar
Here’s a great night of bands from San Diego and Mexico. AJ Froman from San Diego plays psychedelic music that you can dance to. They’re joined by fellow San Diegans Flatlands and Glasmus from Mexico. More info.

Friday, January 22 – Tuxedo – The Observatory North Park
Tuxedo is just one of the other acts that neo-soul singer Mayer Hawthorne performs in. With hip hop producer Jake One, Mayer Hawthorne released one self-titled Tuxedo album last year. More info.

Saturday, January 23 – Shigeto, Groundsislava, Dreamrepeat – Soda Bar
Like Mayer Hawthorne, electronic musician Shigeto hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan. His most recent album Intermission dropped last year on Ghostly International. Electronic artists Groundsislava from LA and Dreamrepeat from San Diego will open the show. More info.

Saturday, January 23 – All them Witches, L.A. Witch, Dani Bell and the Tarantist – Casbah
There’s going to be a lot of witches at the Casbah Saturday night! All them Witches from Nashville plays bluesy psych rock. ListenSD favs LA Witch from… Well, LA obviously, play gothy garage rock. San Diego locals Dani Bell and the Tarantist will open. More info.

Saturday, January 23 – Minor Gems – Black Cat Bar
Support local music! Minor Gems from San Diego is a dreamy side project from members of The Velvet Club. Their first show of 2016–perhaps first show ever as a band? More info.

Sunday, January 24 – Vanessa Carlton, Stye Steel – Casbah
Her other albums failed to match the commercial success of Be Not a Nobody but Carlton has quite the discography. The singer of 2002 hit “A Thousand Miles” released her fifth studio album Liberman last year. More info.
