The only thing brighter than Julia Michael’s red dress was the pure joy she brought to every attendee at the House of Blues .

On the surface, Julia Michaels comes off as an edgy, melodramatic young pop artist, but her presence at the show was anything but that. She instead showed her real self; a down to earth girl that’s really relatable.

Michaels began her career at the age of 16 writing songs for some of the biggest names in pop music. Artists such as Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes, Britney Spears, and Justin Bieber. Although her fame rose from songwriting , Julia Michaels in her own right was nothing short of a powerhouse. Her voice and presence were so energetic that almost for a minute you forgot she was singing about issues that make life a little harder. Things like mental health, wanting to be “Happy,” and heartbreaks.

Michael’s debut single, “Issues,” although catchy, doesn’t truly give her the justice she deserves not only as an artist, but as a songwriter. Inner Monologue Part 1 was the most fitting album to start touring with because it gave her fan’s true vulnerability that not a lot of artists show anymore.

Her songs about relationships and experiences resonated with everyone in the room. “What A Time” made you reminisce about a relationship that may not have been right, but forgot all the bad parts because you just loved them. She ended the show by going into the pit for an intimate song with her fans. Her vulnerability as an artist paid off since the show was nearly sold out.
