Minimalist garage rock band Electric Healing Sound are just that in their most recent single, bringing a fresh take on the blues.
In this vamp, EHS bring a lot on the table with just two chords. “Less is more” is a perfect phrase to describe this track. Vocalist Ricky Soltero sings standard blues lyrics about (you guessed it) a young man going down a rough highway, but it fits just right with everything else going on. One guitar is slamming on major chords while the other plays trebly, pentatonic leads. The guitars manage to sound lo-fi yet clean, complementing the funky bassline that makes you want to dance like crazy. Soltero’s loose vocal tone and messing guitar riffs gives a raw production, yet somehow keep it classy, creating a tight balance throughout this original blues jam.
